In today’s society one needs to have not just a local but also an international perspective in problem-solving. This is especially evident from an economic standpoint as products and services are rapidly exchanged across borders. To live in this age, it is important to know about one’s own country and to understand world issues simultaneously.
The aim of the International Relations major is to have students study Japanese and world issues extensively and to produce academic research that focuses on international relations, particularly among Asian countries. The curriculum requires study from wide range of disciplines, such as Politics, Law, Economics, Society, Culture, International Cooperation and Exchange. Students majoring in International Relations are required to participate in a five-month study abroad program either in America (AUAP) or in China (Asia Yume College). In these programs, students can improve foreign language competencies and foster international relations skills in a practical manner. Also, students can deepen their knowledge by studying in a major related seminar with a small number of students.
