Review of techniques for analyzing deterministic signals, i.e. Fourier series & transforms, convolutions, and, transfer functions, etc. Introduction to random noise process and some important characteristics, i.e. white-gaussian noise, autocorrelation, power spectral density, and narrowband-noise, etc. The course emphasizes on the following topics: sampling theorems, quantization, analog-to-digital conversion techniques, i.e. PCM, DM, etc., source encoding, channel encoding, analog and digital baseband transmissions and detections, and the study of modulation techniques including AM, FM, PM, ASK, PSK, FSK, etc. The course also covers multiplexing/demultiplexing, synchronization, and information theorem.
